Tai Chi Club:

"TAICHI" (TAI: Supreme CHI: Ultimate)

Tai Chi, an ancient martial art based upon Taoist philosophy, which was probably developed in the sixth century B.C.
As an exercise, Tai Chi is suitable for people of all ages. The very nature of the art stimulates blood circulation, loosens and limbers up joints and at the same time promotes mental relaxation. It is like yoga and has been described as "meditation in motion".
A half-hour Tai Chi workout would be equivalent to the exercise benefit derived from a three-hour game of golf. It is, however, a less intensive exercise than either squash or tennis. One great advantage that Tai Chi has as an exercise is its convenience. Only ten minutes' exercise is all that is required for a practice session and can be practised in a relatively small area. Most important, you will always feel good, relaxed, refreshed and invigorated after a Tai Chi session.

Oriental Medical View

It is believed that illness is a result of imbalance between two opposing life forces, yin and yang. Taichi aims to re-establish balance, create harmony between body and mind and connect an individual with the outside world.

Orthodox/ Western Medical View

It suggests that when practiced regularly, Taichi may increase muscle strength and improve cardiovascular health, coordination and balance.

Relevant for health care

Tachi is useful for most patients who are seen on a regular basis by practitioners.
